the new children’s museum park

The result of a highly successful collaboration between the City of San Diego and The New Children’s Museum, this high functioning urban park provides a dynamic setting for child’s play.  In return for on-going maintenance, the Museum may use the park for children’s programs and special events.

This one-acre site in downtown San Diego, focused on ‘Art for Play’, complements the rich patterns of the adjacent Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Promenade. Children can explore a climbing room, play in the sand, on swings and spinners, create chalk murals, or look to the sky to read words from the playful mind of poet, Quincy Troupe, who collaborated with us to place his fantastic and inspirational words throughout the park.
