north embarcadero esplanade

San Diego Bay is a remarkable feature of the California coastal landscape – a rare naturally protected harbor.  The bay itself was always beautiful, but for most of the 20th century the waterfront edge languished as a forlorn complement to the grandeur of the bay.  In the late 1990’s the City and County of San Diego, along with the Port Authority and the Redevelopment Agency began work on the North Embarcadero Vision Plan and in 2015 the effort of hundreds of committed San Diegans materialized in a waterfront esplanade befitting the majesty of the bay.
